Is It A Cubic Zirconia Or A Diamond?

There are many different ways to tell if you have a real diamond on your hands or just a pretty imitation.

Here are a couple of tests to check and see which one you got.

1. The breathe test: this is one of the easiest tests around just clean the stone and breathe on it like you would a pair of glasses. If the fog goes away fast then it could be a diamond.
   
2. The blue light test: this one is cool if you have a black light handy. Simply turn out the lights and check if it. If it turns blue then it is a diamond. Caution he may not be lying after all and it might be real. Diamonds of extremely high quality do not show a blue hue.
3. The Weight test: If you have a diamond or cubic zirconia of the same size then you can check to see if the stone is a diamond or not. Can you tell which is which?

Some other tests that you can use to check and see if you have cubic zirconia rings or diamond rings.

If you have a microscope or a loupe you can check these a whole lot easier.

1. If the edges of the facets are rounded or rolled then it is more than likely going to be a cubic zirconia, as diamonds have very distinct facet lines.
2. Another quick test is to look and see if there is any cloudiness. If there is than there is a good chance that this is a diamond. Cubic zirconia gemstone rings are almost always clear.
