Different Types Of Gents Watches

By

Everywhere you see, you will find that people are keeping the time in some kind of form whether it is in a fashionable way or in a more practical way.

Today we are going to be looking at a couple of different of different gents watches. The watches that we will be looking at are some of the beautiful I have come across.

Haute Horlogerie Gent Watches

The first watch that we will be spotlighting is the Girard Perregaux "Haute Horlogerie" collection. This is a very special selection of watches according the Girard Perregaux website “offers a rich variety, incorporating a complete range of the most fascinating watch making complications in existence, such as the chronograph, world time indicator, perpetual calendar, power reserve and moon phase indicators, chiming watches, split-seconds and jumping seconds and even an unprecedented miniature slot machine mechanism. All these watches and other Girard-Perregaux classics, such as the emblematic Tourbillon with three gold Bridges, are treasure troves for connoisseurs.” If I do say so myself these are some very astounding watches that seem to be in a class all by themselves.

These watches run off of a Tourbillon that is compromised of 72 components fine tune adjusted and finished by hand, within a diameter of one centimeter weighing in at a total weight of just 0.3g.Some of the specifications of these watches are that they are: mechanically powered with a power reserve of a minimum of 48 hours. This watch is also water resistant up to 3 ATM or 100 feet and is compromised of 30 inner working jewels that can be seen due to the skeleton style face and case. Just in case you were wondering this watch retails for $555,000 US. That is a half a million dollar watch people.

Michel Jordi Squelette Series Gents Watches

Michel Jordi is our next watch designer who has made some very fascinating watches that only a few select stores around the world will have the privilege of selling. The series that we are going to be looking at today is actually comprised of two individual series; they are the single squelette series and the double squelette series.

Single Series Squelette

The single squelette series consists of a watch called the Phoenix which is made from red gold. This is a limited edition watch with only 28 being made as they are retailing around $50,000 US as of right now. This watch has a beautiful red gold case with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal face that is water resistant up to 3 ATM/ 100 feet. The movement of the watch consists of a Valjoux 23 squelette which is a hand winding mechanical chronograph. The strap of this fine timepiece is that of hand stitched tanned alligator.

The Twins

The second watch in the squelette series is called the twins. These watches are extremely intricate with only a handful of master watch makers being able to successfully put them together. These watches just like the Phoenix are limited edition with only 28 of them being produced. These watches have 296 components and 35 jewels that have to be hand assembled including the meticulous task assembling of Calibre Frederic Piguet 71 otherwise known as the smallest self winding manufacture movement in the world, and the De Luxe execution. This watch is water resistant up to 30 meters. That would usually be it for most watches but here is why this watch is unique it is actually two separate watches in one, that was just the upper watch. Now onto the lower watch it consists of a Calibre Valjoux 23 10 “1/2” movement that was created in 1916 and later discontinued in 1974. The lower watch has 21 jewels under it’s completely skeletised face. There are a total of 4 non-reflective scratchproof sapphire crystals on this one watch. This watch as well has the tanned alligator strap that is hand stitched. The price of this watch retail is around $70,000 US. There is another model that is diamond faced that is in the range of $170,000 US.

Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Grande Complication Gents Watches

Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Grande Complication is the next collection that we will be looking at. Audemars Piguet is synonymous with the watch world as this company as the company was founded by some of the watch world’s most famous people, Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet. The company is responsible for the creation of the “Royal Oak” which is pretty much responsible for creating the market for stainless steel luxury watches. However the pinnacle of horological achievement by the company is the Jules Audemadars Grande Complication. This collection of watches includes a self-winding split-chronograph movement that allows for a perpetual calendar that indicates day, date, week, moon phase, month, leap year, and a minute repeater function. These watches are going for as much as $750,000 US.
